ICAR-CIBA and ICAR-CIFE Launches Certification Course on Shrimp Crop Insurance & Loss Assessment
ICAR-CIBA and ICAR-CIFE collaborate to offer a Certificate Course on Shrimp Crop Insurance & Loss Assessment to equip professionals with essential skills for risk management in the shrimp industry.
Over the years, shrimp farming has become increasingly important in the dynamic coastal economy of India. Recognizing the crucial interplay between industry growth and risk management, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) through its institutions, Central Institute of Brackishwater Aquaculture (CIBA) and Central Institute of Fisheries Education (CIFE), has announced a comprehensive Certificate Course on Shrimp Crop Insurance & Loss Assessment.
With its extensive coastline, India holds immense potential for harnessing marine resources. In the 1970s, a notable shift occurred among fishermen, focusing their efforts on prawn, or 'shrimp', farming due to its lucrative export prospects. However, this venture comes with inherent risks, necessitating a robust understanding of shrimp production systems, industry dynamics, and risk mitigation strategies.
Objectives of the Course:
The primary aim of this certificate course is to equip participants with fundamental insights into shrimp production systems, the prevailing industry landscape, and crucially, shrimp crop insurance mechanisms. By delving into topics such as risk assessment, documentation, and claims management, the course seeks to empower professionals to navigate the intricacies of insuring shrimp crops effectively.
Target Participants:
Designed to cater to a diverse audience, the course is tailored for working professionals across various sectors, including insurance, banking, shrimp industry stakeholders, developmental agencies, and research institutions. Additionally, recent graduates aspiring to venture into the shrimp industry are encouraged to participate, thereby fostering a new generation of informed professionals in this domain.
Selection Criteria:
With a cap of 30 participants, selection will be based on a first-come, first-serve basis. However, priority will be given to candidates nominated and sponsored by industry and government entities, reflecting a commitment to industry collaboration and knowledge dissemination.
Application Process:
Interested participants are invited to complete the application form, providing requisite payment details to secure their enrollment in the program.
