ICAR Starts Sale of Improved Wheat Seeds: Know Varieties, Prices, and Online Booking Details

The Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) in Pusa, New Delhi, has announced a special initiative to provide farmers with advanced, high-quality wheat seeds. This scheme is set to run from October 3 to October 9, 2024, offering farmers across the country a chance to access improved wheat varieties directly from the institute.

The initiative aims to help farmers increase their crop production and profitability by using modern, high-quality wheat seeds. These seeds not only promise higher yields but also improve the quality of the produce, allowing farmers to command better prices in the market. Furthermore, the program seeks to connect farmers with cutting-edge agricultural technologies, empowering them to embrace modern farming techniques and optimize their cultivation processes.

Available Wheat Varieties and Pricing

During the campaign, the following wheat varieties will be available for purchase in 40 kg and 10 kg packs:

  • HD 3271 (40 kg): Rs 2000

  • HD 3298 (40 kg): Rs 2000

  • HD 3406 (40 kg): Rs 2000

  • HD 3226 (40 kg): Rs 2000

  • HD 3369 (40 kg): Rs 2000

  • HD 3059 (40 kg): Rs 2000

  • HD 3385 (10 kg): Rs 500

  • HD 3386 (10 kg): Rs 500

The newly developed wheat varieties, HD 3385 and HD 3386, are limited in stock, and only 10 kg of seeds will be allotted per farmer. Other varieties, however, are available in larger quantities and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
