North East Agriculture and Food Processing Summit & Expo

With undulating hills, rolling grasslands, cascading waterfalls, snaking rivers, terraced slopes, and awe-inspiring flora and fauna, the North-Eastern Region (NER) is a land of breathtaking beauty. This lovely scene is marred by widespread poverty, low per capita income, high unemployment, low agricultural productivity, and food scarcity.

The region has several distinct features, including fertile land, abundant water resources, evergreen dense forests, high and consistent rainfall, mega biodiversity, and an agriculture-friendly climate, which it shares with Bhutan and China in the north, Myanmar in the east, and Bangladesh in the south-west.

Realizing the importance of the Food Processing sector, Indian Chamber of Food and Agriculture is organizing North East Agriculture and Food Processing Summit & Expo on 23rd June 2022 at Hotel Lily, Guwahati and Veterinary College Playground, Guwahati, Assam.

Major Objectives of Summit:

To discuss the challenges that farmers in North Eastern India face, such as access to technology, trade, and marketing, as well as challenges in food processing, agri value, and supply chains.

To discuss agriculture and food processing policy, trade, technology, and market perspectives in North-Eastern India in order to achieve long-term development and create opportunities for farmers.

To discuss how Northeast states, industry, and institutions can help farmers with marketing and technology by promoting FPOs, agribusinesses, start-up ventures, and value chain development.
