IIM Shillong Hosts Roundtable on Waste Management Solutions

IIM Shillong recently hosted a roundtable discussion on January 15 to tackle pressing challenges and identify opportunities in waste management within the region. Organized by the Northeast Centre for Community Impact and Engagement (NE-CCIE) under IIM Shillong's aegis, the event united various stakeholders committed to sustainable solutions for Shillong.
The gathering saw participation from notable organizations such as the Meghalaya Institute of Governance, Bethany Society, OCU, Jiva Cares, and Synjuk ki Nongsynshar Shnong Nongthymmai Pyllun. Together, they explored innovative and collaborative approaches to address the city's waste management issues, fostering a spirit of collective problem-solving.
Discussions revolved around key topics, including waste segregation, the introduction of water ATMs, and the importance of community-driven initiatives to enhance waste management practices. Emphasis was also placed on promoting river stewardship and integrating policies that support sustainability.
Participants highlighted the necessity of aligning local practices with innovative solutions and strong policy frameworks to ensure long-term impact.
