Lam Research India, a semiconductor plant gear manufacturer, has inked an agreement with CeNSE and the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, to offer a sponsored fellowship programme for second-year Master of Technology (MTech) students beginning in the 2022-23 academic year.

Since 2014, Lam India has been a member of CeNSE's (Centre for Nano Science and Engineering) industry affiliate programme, and the firm has been working with the centre on a number of creative projects to enhance the state of semiconductor technologies, according to the company.

The MoU underscores Lam India's commitment to expanding industry-academic collaboration while also providing chances for CeNSE students to gain specialized skills that will lead to employment opportunities in the wafer fabrication equipment (WFE) industry.

"We are thrilled to maintain our long-standing partnership with IISc to foster talent development and technological innovation in the semiconductor industry."

"We expect Lam Research India's innovation contribution to the ecosystem to considerably increase now that we have access to a talent pool as strong as IISc's.”

"As we continue to work on innovative semiconductor technologies at Lam India, this MoU will help the training and development of CeNSE MTech students," Lam Research India's Corporate Vice President and General Manager Rangesh Raghavan said in a statement.

Business-sponsored CeNSE MTech Fellowships, according to CeNSE Chairperson Srinivasan Raghavan, are intended at drawing talent from traditional engineering and science fields and exposing them to new prospects in the burgeoning electronics and semiconductor manufacturing industry.

"For many years, Lam Research has been an Industry Affiliate, and this partnership is an extension of our dedication to tackling industry concerns through academic research and technology advances," he stated.
