IMD Predicts Heavy Rainfall in Some Regions While Others Will Witness Severe Heatwave Conditions

According to the latest IMD advisory, strong south-westerly winds coming from the Bay of Bengal could bring heavy rainfall to the states of northeast and eastern India. 

Heatwave Condition Will Prevail in These States

Meanwhile, on May 14 and 15, a moderate heatwave to severe heatwave is highly possible throughout Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi, among several other regions.

Heatwave conditions are expected across most of west Rajasthan on May 14 and 15, with an extreme heatwave in isolated areas. On the 14th and 15th of May, a moderate to severe heatwave is extremely possible throughout the east Rajasthan.

On May 14 and 15, a similar weather notice was issued for west Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh as well as south Haryana, Delhi, Jammu, and Kashmir, Punjab, and Vidarbha (Maharashtra).

Heavy Rainfall Over Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Northeast India

The Andaman and Nicobar Islands will experience severe rainfall due to a strong cross-equatorial wind traveling from the Bay of Bengal to the Andaman Sea. On May 16 and 17, a new western disturbance will bring rain to the states of Himachal Pradesh, West Uttar Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir.

For the next five days, Andaman and Nicobar Island will see widely spread rainfall, with scattered heavy downpours between May 14 and 17.

Between May 14 and 17, moderate to heavy rainfall is predicted over Assam, Meghalaya, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim. Isolated areas of Meghalaya are likely to witness extreme rain on May 14.

Isolated heavy rain will fall on May 17 in Arunachal Pradesh. Through May 14 and 17, isolated severe rain is expected in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. During the next five days until May 18, isolated to scattered rainfall is highly possible throughout Bihar, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, and Odisha.
