IMD Warns of Heavy Rainfall and Thunderstorms in These States for Next Few Days; Orange Alert Issued
During the last 24 hours, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, few parts of Maharashtra, Southeast Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Telangana, Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep experienced moderate rainfall and thundershowers. Scattered light to moderate rainfall also occurred over Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and parts of Gangetic West Bengal.

Scattered light to moderate rainfall also occurred over Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and parts of Gangetic West Bengal.
Some parts of South Bihar, North Jammu, Uttarakhand & Gujarat also witnessed light rains and thundershowers. Weather in other parts of the country was almost dry.
Weather in India Today
As per weather department rainfall will continue in South states of India for few more days. There will be moderate rainfall along with thunderstorms with isolated heavy showers over Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Lakshadweep & Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The India Meteorological Department on 20th October 2019 had announced an orange alert in 7 districts of Kerala after heavy rainfall. Alappuzha, Thiruvananthapuram, Malappuram, Kottayam, Idukki, Palakkad and Ernakulam are the alerted regions, as the districts witnessed heavy rainfall since last two days. The Kerala Disaster Management Authority (KDMA) said that storms may continue for next 4-5 days. All the districts on alert will experience rainfall between 115 - 204 mm.
The orange alert has been issued in these districts from 20th to 23rd October 2019. The alert has been notified for all the northern districts - Kozhikode, Wayanad Malappuram, Kasaragod and Kannur for 23 October.
Meanwhile, the weather department predicts that the intensity of rainfall will increase over Tamil Nadu from tomorrow (22nd October 2019).
Light Rainfall is also likely in central as well as north-east part of the country that includes states like Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Sub Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim & lower Assam.
Talking about North India, with the beginning of winter season, Baralacha La mountainous pass received fresh snowfall on 20th October 2019 (Sunday). The mountains and roads were fully covered in thick snow. The Baralancha La is a high mountain pass in Zanskar range that connects Lahaul district in Himachal Pradesh to Ladakh in Jammu & Kashmir, which is situated along the Leh-Manali Highway.
Delhi weather
The air quality in the National capital once again turned "poor" as wind direction changed to northwesterly, escalating the contribution of smoke from stubble burning in neighbouring states. Westerly & northwesterly winds bring dust from western areas and smoke caused by burning of crop residue in Punjab and Haryana to Delhi-NCR.
