By eating fruits and raw vegetables lowers the symptoms of depression and boosts mental health. The researchers are of the opinion that it is healthier than cooked, canned and processed food. The fruits like bananas, apples, dark leafy greens, cucumber, kiwis, carrots and green leafy veggies improve the mental health, psychological well-being, positive mood and satisfaction with life.

According to the lead author Tamlin Conner, who is senior lecturer at the University of Otago in Dublin, New Zealand, “our research has highlighted that the consumption of fruit and vegetables in their ‘unmodified’ state is more strongly associated with better mental health compared to cooked/canned/processed fruit and vegetables.” Also the cooked, canned and processed food reduces the nutrient value.  Another most important factor to be considered is the production and consumption of the produce.
