Independence Day 2019: What Makes India’s 73rd Independence Day More Special and Unique?

India is gearing up to celebrate the 73^rd Independence Day. It’s not just a day or event but a national festival for the cores of Indians. 

It’s a day is to remember all those who fought valiantly and sacrificed their lives for the freedom of India from colonial powers. It’s a day to celebrate the tricolor with liberty, beauty in diversity, unity in differences and brotherhood of the largest democracy in the world.  

This year also, India will celebrate Independence Day to pay tribute and remember all the freedom fighters who gave their lives and fought for the Independence of the country. 

The tricolor will fly high in the sky with the rhythm of “Jana Gana Mana Adhi” celebrating the largest democracy in the world. Moreover, India will witness a special and most remarkable Independence Day this year. 

Let’s know the significance and specialty of 73^rd Independence Day of India. What makes it different from the previous celebrations of Independence Day? 

1. For the first time in history, J& K will hoist tricolor in their state with the national anthem as the center had revoked the special state status from the state and repeal their own constitution and citizenship dividing into two union territories. Now, J&K included as an integral part of India. Panchayat Heads of Bhartiya Janata Party in J&K will hoist the Tricolor in their houses. This time the tricolor will fly high with the slogan of “One nation, One Constitution” from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, Assam to Gujarat celebrating the largest democracy. 

2. Former President of India Pranab Mukherjee, singer-composer Bhupen Hazarika from Assam and social activist Nanaji Deshmukh will be conferred with Bharat Ratna on August 8th, 2019.

3. A football tournament named “Naga 73rd Independence Day Football Tournament 2019” was inaugurated on 28th July at Naga in North Sikkim.

4. All schools under North Delhi Municipal Corporation will display photos of the present President Ramnath Kovind and the Prime Minister of India. For the first time, North Delhi Municipal Corporation is taking such a step in schools.

5. From his Twitter handle, the Prime Minister has appealed to the people to provide valuable suggestions for his Independence Day speech through the Narendra Modi or Namo App. 

6. The Government of India has scrapped the Article 370 from J&K, through a Presidential order on 5th August 2019.

7. 300 meters of the pedestrian-friendly walkway will be open for shoppers in Chandni Chowk area of New Delhi.

8. Banaras Hindu University will go completely paperless on the 73rd Independence Day.

9. In the wake of the intelligence input from security forces, the security in the capital city has been beefed up. Section 144 has been imposed in Noida and Delhi- Haryana border areas. 

10. An advisory has been issued to tourists in Kashmir valley, to leave the valley as soon as possible.

11. Security is stepped up in Delhi in wake of intelligence input indicating towards terrorist activities targeting Independence Day.

12. The senior leadership of INC (Indian National Congress) has stated that the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) will get new chief by this Independence Day.

13. For the first time, New York’s India Day parade will be organized on 18^th August, the American-Indian community will commemorate the sacrifice and valor of Indian soldiers. This would be the 39^th New York’s India Day parade organized by Federation of Indian Association (FIA). This year the theme is “Support our Troops, Salute our Troops”.

14. The Government of India under the bureau of Outreach & Communication has organized a poster design competition on 73rd Independence Day. The competition is based on the theme “Changing Face of India – Independence Day 2019”. There is no age bar and the competition is open till 10th August for every citizen of India.
