“India is Confident of Achieving Textile Export Target of USD 100 billion by 2030”: Piyush Goyal

Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Textiles, stated that India will achieve textile export of US$ 100 billion by the year 2030 during his interaction with the press at Kashi Tamil Samagam. He also announced that from 16 December ‘Viraasat’, a saree exhibit will be organized at JanPath in New Delhi.

On Wednesday Union Minister of Textiles, Piyush Goyal informed the press at the  Kashi Tamil Samagam that “India is confident of achieving textile export target of USD 100 billion by 2030.” ‘My Sai My Pride’ festival called the ‘Viraasat’ is set to begin at JanPath Haat from 16 December.

The festival will kick-start with 75 different kinds of handwoven sarees ranging from Banarasi, Kanjivaram, Paithani, Patola and many more. Weavers from all over the country will take part and display their sarees at the JanPath Haat for the ‘Viraasat’ exhibition.

On the occasion of the two-day ‘Kashi Tamil Samagam’, Goyal recalled the familiarity that is shared by Kashi and Tamil Nadu as he said: “Kashi has a connection with Tamil Nadu. There's influence of Tamil Nadu on Kashi.” A group of Chettinad people migrated to Kashi from Tamil Nadu about 2000 years ago and have currently become a part of the state.

He also reminisced about the Dev Deepavali firecrackers burst in Kashi have connection with Tamil Nadu as it is produced in the city of Sivakasi in the state. The textile tradition of both also exude a similar essence as temple cities which are famous for its textile fabrics.

Delegates from textile industries have also participated in the event, as they seek to find a trajectory for the industry aligning with producing an improved variety of textile to achieve the ambitious goal of textile export evaluation of US $ 100 billion.
