India Prioritizes Domestic Dairy Sector Over Imports for Improved Supplies, Says Parshottam Rupala

India has the world's largest dairy industry, accounting for 23% of worldwide milk production. The industry contributes 5% to the national economy and employs over 8 crore farmers directly.

The minister stated that there is no need to be concerned about the rise in retail prices of dairy goods. Farmers are earning competitive rates.

Parshottam Rupala, Union Cabinet Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, has stated unequivocally that India will not import dairy products such as butter.

He also mentioned that the dairy industry's supplies will be increased with the support of a large untapped domestic sector. "There is no truth to it (dairy product shortage)."

"There will be no import," Rupala, the minister in charge of fisheries, animal husbandry, and dairying, told reporters on the sidelines of an event. He stated that there is no shortage of milk in the country and that the government monitors it on a regular basis.

"The demand has risen. We have a large unexplored territory that we will try to exploit...We will manage it well, and there is no need to be concerned," he said, urging farmers and consumers not to be concerned.
