India’s textile industry is projected to grow significantly, reaching a market size of $350 billion by 2030 and creating 3.5 crore new jobs, according to Union Minister of Textiles, Giriraj Singh. He shared this optimistic outlook during the curtain-raiser event for Bharat Tex 2025, held on September 4, 2024, in New Delhi. Singh highlighted the importance of India's emerging "Bharat" brand and the country's leadership in sustainable, green textile products on the global stage.

Minister of State for Textiles and External Affairs, Pabitra Margherita, and Textiles Secretary, Rachna Shah, were also in attendance, alongside other senior ministry officials. Singh highlighted the government’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme as a key driver for boosting the country's textile production and promoting its global branding. He added that the PLI scheme would integrate the textile value chain and attract foreign direct investment (FDI) to India.

Addressing India’s competitive edge, Singh noted that the country’s demographic dividend could propel growth beyond China's and called for active participation from state governments. He reiterated the event’s alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s "5F Vision"—from Farm to Fibre to Factory to Fashion to Foreign—underscoring the Make in India initiative’s focus on innovation and collaboration.

Bharat Tex 2025 is a global textile event organized by a consortium of Export Promotion Councils (EPCs), with support from the Ministry of Textiles. Scheduled for February 14-17, 2025, it is poised to be a major global textile trade fair and knowledge-sharing platform. The event will be held at two venues: Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi and the India Expo Centre and Mart in Greater Noida. The New Delhi event will cover the entire textile value chain, while the Greater Noida venue will feature exhibitions on handicrafts, garment machinery, and ethnic apparel from February 12-15, 2025.

Building on the success of the 2024 edition, Bharat Tex 2025 will focus on two core themes: resilient global value chains and textile sustainability. This year's event is expected to surpass the previous edition in vibrancy and scale, attracting top policymakers, international CEOs, and global buyers. Spanning 200,000 square meters, the event will host more than 5,000 exhibitors and 6,000 international buyers from over 110 countries. Over 120,000 visitors are expected to attend, and around 100 international speakers will address key topics in the industry.

The exhibition will showcase a wide variety of products, including apparel, home furnishings, floor coverings, fibers, yarns, fabrics, silk, textiles-based handicrafts, and technical textiles. Additionally, the event will feature a retail High Street, focusing on India’s fashion retail market. The India Expo Centre in Greater Noida will host exhibitions on ethnic apparel and apparel machinery.

Attendees can expect an array of activities, including a large-scale trade fair, textile conference, seminars, CEO roundtables, and B2B and G2G meetings. Strategic investment announcements, product launches, and global collaborations are also on the agenda, alongside cultural events, fashion shows, and expert-led sustainability workshops.

The curtain-raiser event for Bharat Tex 2025 brought together industry associations, leaders from the textile sector, and senior government officials. For more details about the upcoming expo, visit www.bharat-tex.com.
