Rishabh Pant, the standout wicketkeeper for India, was rushed to the hospital after he suffered a serious car accident on his way back from Delhi to Uttarakhand.

The incident took place on the Delhi-Uttarakhand Highway (National Highway 58) in the Haridwar district on Friday.

According to reports, Pant was hurt in the crash, suffering injuries to his head, knee, and shin. At present, he is receiving treatment at the Max Hospital in Dehradun.

The Director General of Police in Uttarakhand told the media that the latter claimed that he lost control of his car after falling asleep while driving, causing it to smash with the divider and catch fire.

At the time of the collision, Pant was alone in the vehicle and had to shatter a glass to get out of it. Pant had his initial treatment at the Roorkee Civil Hospital and was later shifted to the Max Hospital in the state's capital.

Personalities from various fields took to the microblogging site Twitter to wish for a swift recovery for the Indian cricketer. Former India batter Gautam Gambhir wrote, "Wishing a very speedy & full recovery to Rishabh! Take care @RishabhPant17".

While Indian cricketer Abhinav Mukund tweeted, "Really hope Rishabh Pant is ok. The car looks absolutely quashed. Horrific to see even".

"Wishing dear @RishabhPant17 a super speedy recovery. Bahut hi Jald swasth ho jaao", former India batter Virender Sehwag wished for the latter.

Meanwhile, the 25-year-old Pant was last seen in the test series against Bangladesh.

The latter was supposed to report to the NCA for strength and conditioning treatment prior to the Test series against Australia that was set to start on February 9, though he was not included in the squads for the white-ball series against Sri Lanka.
