International Conference on Agriculture Education emphasizes on World Food Requirement

Doubling farmers’ income by 2022 target can be achieved through active support of agricultural research and education in the country, said Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Smt Krishna Raj.

Doubling farmers’ income by 2022 target can be achieved through active support of agricultural research and education in the country, said Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Smt Krishna Raj. She was addressing the delegates of three-day International Conference on Agricultural Education – Sharing Global Experience. Union Minister of State also emphasized, we can contribute immensely to the world food requirement.

The Conference is organized on the occasion of golden jubilee year of Indian Agricultural Universities Association (IAUA), that aids and assist the State, Central and Deemed to be Universities for promotion of Agricultural Education and Research in the country. It is presently celebrating its Golden Jubilee and as a part of this celebration, jointly organized with ICAR and National Academy of Agricultural Sciences. 

Speaking on the occasion, Secretary, DARE and DG,    ICAR, Dr Trilochan Mohapatra suggested that there should be a global agricultural network to share and utilize the knowledge for global food security. He added, global community should work together to mitigate malnutrition and hunger. 

Dr R B Singh, Former Chancellor, CAU, Imphal; Dr Panjab Singh, President, National Academy of Agricultural Sciences; Dr N S Rathore, DDG (Education), ICAR; Dr KM Bujerbarauh, Vice Chancellor, AAU, Guwahati; Dr NC Patel, Vice Chancellor, AAU, Anand also addressed the delegates on the occasion. 

Around 25 participants from 12 different countries including US, China, South Korea, Malaysia, UK, and France etc are participating in the conference. In addition, 55 Agricultural University Vice Chancellors and around 55 Deans and Directors from the country are also taking part in it.
