"Let's Make Our Farmers the Biggest Brand,” Says Founder, Krishi Jagran at OUAT Farmers' Fair 2023

The eagerly anticipated OUAT Farmers' Fair 2023 has begun in Bhubaneshwar, hosted by the second-oldest agricultural institution in India, Odisha University of Agriculture & Technology (OUAT).

While addressing the gathering, Krishi Jagran's editor-in-chief MC Dominic stated, "While a large section of Indian population is engaged in the farm sector, our country lacked a robust agri media, due to which many of our issues were not highlighted or even addressed. This was the key reason behind starting Krishi Jagran, and we are now a significant agri news media outlet with a strong presence in print and digital media, operating in multiple languages."

"After 26 years of experience in the field, I think it’s time that we understand the aspirations and approach of the farmers, and include it in the policymaking as well as research", he added.

While speaking about how we can uplift farmers, he said “When I was young, my father used to send me to one particular milkman to get milk because that farmer was a trusted brand for us. We incorporated this idea in our Farmer the Brand initiative, where we provide farmers with a platform where they can become their own brand through their value-added products and double their incomes as well.”

"Now, we need to bring farmers, for whom we are organizing such huge events, to the front row like this Farmers' Fair organized by OUAT", he stated.

The fair welcomes distinguished players such as farmers, farm women, agri-entrepreneurs, FPOs, agriculture & allied departments, ICAR institutes, public and commercial seed agencies, and so on.

Meanwhile, the key objectives of the fair are seeds, seedlings, QPM, tissue culture plantlets, mushroom spawn, fingerlings, yearlings, poultry, biofertilizers, biopesticides, and vermicompost.

For the participating farmers and other industry experts, the first day of the event will include two rounds of technical sessions in addition to the opening session.

The 2-day fair will come to an end on February 28.
