IYoM 2023: “Govt is Planning to Double the Millet Production by 2025”: Ganesh Joshi, Minister of Soldier Welfare, Agriculture & Rural Development

Kickstarting the International Year of the Millets, Krishi Jagran hosted “The unveiling ceremony of ‘Special Edition on Millets’ & Discussion on Millets”. Here’s what the participants had to say about it.

Ganesh Joshi, Minister of Soldier Welfare, Agriculture, and Rural Development, congratulated Krishi Jagran for a successful event and said that it is one of the first organizations to celebrate the Year of the Millets. In his speech at the event, he said, “Millets are a boon for farmers and our government is working to ensure they get the best prices in the market. Millets are highly nutritious and 'poor people's grain but millets are for everyone now because of the IYoM 2023, millet dishes are now introduced in restaurant menus as well."

He said, "Farmers are looking forward to this year and by 2025, our government is planning to double the millet production."

Indian politician Ganesh Joshi is now serving as a State Cabinet Minister in the government of Uttarakhand under Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.  Joshi represents the Dehradun district's Mussoorie constituency as a member of the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly for the fourth time.

‘Special Edition on Millets’ magazine was unveiled and a Discussion on Millets was conducted by Krishi Jagran at their headquarters in Delhi today. The conference saw the participation of some of the most influential delegates in the agriculture sector, from NITI Aayog and AARDO to FMC and NAFED. As one of the first events to kickstart the year of the millets, IYoM 2023 and its participants have successfully furthered the discussion on millets.
