IYoM 2023: Millets Have Been Underestimated for a Long Time, Good to See It's Back, Says Kailash Choudhary

Kickstarting the International Year of the Millets, Krishi Jagran hosted an event wherein it launched a ‘Special Edition on Millets’ and conducted discussion on the topic. Here’s what the participants had to say about it.

Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Government of India, Kailash Choudhary who took part in the event virtually congratulated Krishi Jagran for hosting the millet special event.

Kailash Chaudhary said, "Millets, the 'mota anaaj',  are a delicacy to be enjoyed and they have been underrated for a long time now. It is high time we bring them back into the spotlight, not because of their nutritional benefits but also for the economic boost they will bring to the Indian economy. We are grateful that PM Modi initiated this project and I congratulate Krishi Jagran on successfully following in PM Modi's footsteps."

Kailash Chaudhary is currently the Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Government of India and MP (Loksabha), Barmer-Jaisalmer.

About the event:

Krishi Jagran today hosted a conference celebrating the international year of millets, at their headquarters in Delhi. Some of the most prestigious delegates in the agriculture industry, from NITI Aayog and AARDO to FMC and NAFED, attended the meeting. IYoM 2023 and its participants have effectively promoted the conversation on millets as one of the first events to kick off the year of the millets.
