Jan Dhan Yojana: Know When and How to Collect Your Second Installment of Rs.500?

As per latest news reports, women Jan Dhan bank account holders will start getting the 2nd installment of Rs 500 from next week, i.e. from Monday onwards. In order to help the poor deal with the COVID-19 pandemic, the Centre on 26^th March had said that ex-gratia payment of Rs 500 will be credited to women Jan Dhan account holders for the next 3 months, beginning from April.

Under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana, Installment of Rs.500 for the month of May has been sent to the bank accounts of PMJDY women beneficiaries.  

Financial Services Secretary Debasish Panda in a tweet said that “Beneficiaries are requested to follow the schedule that is shared below to visit banks and CSPs. Money can also be withdrawn through ATMs and BCs".

He said transfer has been staggered over a period of five days so as to avoid crowd at the bank branches. This will help in maintaining social distancing and avoid overcrowding at the banks.

Jan Dhan Yojana: When to withdraw money 

According to the schedule, women account holders under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana or PMJDY whose account number has last digit as ‘0 and 1’ will get money in their account on 4 May whereas accounts ending with ‘2 or 3’ will get on 5 May.

In the same way beneficiaries with account numbers ending with ‘4 or 5’ can take their money on 6 May while accounts ending with 6 or 7 can withdraw on 8 May. The last tranche will be remitted on 11 May for account numbers ending with 8 or 9, according to the tweet.

It added that in case of emergency, woman beneficiary can withdraw the money right away. However, for orderly disbursal, they must follow the banks' payment plan. PMJDY Beneficiaries can withdraw any day at their convenience after 11 May.

Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana beneficiaries must try to use the neighbourhood ATMs with RuPay cards, Bank Mitras & customer service points (CSPs) to avoid crowding at the branches, the tweet said.  At last it mentioned that there would be no charges for withdrawing money from other bank ATMs, presently, as per the government directives.
