KALIA Scheme Beneficiaries to Get Monetary Assistance from 26th January

The beneficiaries under the KALIA (Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation) scheme will start getting monetary assistance from 26th January 2019.

The beneficiaries under the KALIA (Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation) scheme will start getting monetary assistance from 26th January 2019.

KALIA scheme is an initiative of the Odisha Government for the empowerment of the farming community.

In 1st phase of the scheme, the money will be directly credited to the bank accounts of around 12.4 lakh farmers having regular transactions (right from selling paddy to purchasing seeds and urea) with the Cooperation Department.

Cooperation Minister, SN Patro while speaking to media said farmers, who have recently applied for the KALIA scheme, will be provided financial assistance after confirmation and examination of their application forms.

On 21st December 2018, Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik told about the scheme that it will provide financial, income, cultivation support with insurance support to the small, marginal and landless farmers.

An official said, “more than 30 lakh small as well as marginal farmers of Odisha will be covered under the KALIA scheme. And an amount of Rs 10000 / family (Rs 5,000 each for both the seasons - Kharif and Rabi) will be provided as financial aid for taking up farming. To guarantee comprehensive coverage, the help will be provided for 5 cropping seasons spanning 3 years from 2018-19 to 2021-22”.

KALIA scheme aims at benefiting about 92 % farmers in Odisha and Rs 10,180 crore has been allocated for its implementation in 3 years.
