Karnataka Launches Kashi Yatra Scheme, Offers Cash Assistance of Rs. 5,000; Check How to Avail

Kashi Yatra has long been a privilege to the religious people who are spiritual and have faith in God. This traditional event is attended by hundreds of people every year.  But, for those who are willing to go but do not have any financial support, the government has launched a scheme. Now, you can get financial help to attend this religious event.

The Kashi Yatra project, which offers a cash assistance of Rs 5,000 to each of the 30,000 pilgrims willing to conduct a pilgrimage to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, received approval from the Karnataka government on Monday.

As read out in the budget address by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai under the accounts head of Assistance to Manasa Sarovara Pilgrims, the government authorized the religious endowment department commissioner to use Rs 7 crore in funds that were sanctioned for the Kashi Yatra in its order.

Who will get the benefit of the scheme?

Shashikala Jolle, the minister for religious endowment, hajj, and wakf, stated in a statement that those wishing to avail themselves of the benefit must be Karnataka residents and must provide documents proving their residences in the state, such as a voter ID, Aadhaar card, or ration card.

According to the Minister, candidates must be at least 18 years old and must provide documentation of their age.

Pilgrims will be able to avail benefits of government’s scheme only once in life

According to Shashikala Jole, people who made a pilgrimage between April 1 and June 30 and want to benefit from the "Kashi Yatra" scheme are qualified. They will need to show proof that they attended the Kashi Vishwanath temple, such as their darshan ticket, waiting list, or "puja receipt."

They must provide it to the Commissioner of Religious Endowments Department in the format prescribed. According to Jole, pilgrims would only be able to participate in the government-sponsored "Kashi Yatra" once in a lifetime.
