Kashi to Discuss Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems With G-20 Experts

The PIB released the agenda of the ACS meet as per which senior-level officials, policymakers, scientists, and experts of the G-20 member states and invited countries and international organizations will participate in this event.

The ACS meeting is part of the overarching G-20 theme 'One Earth-One Family-One Future'.

The first of five G-20 meetings scheduled in Varanasi from April 17 is a three-day gathering of Agricultural Chief Scientists (ACS).

As per media reports, the district administration has completed all necessary preparations to host the event, according to S Rajalingam, the district magistrate.

The ACS meeting, which is part of the overarching G-20 theme 'One Earth-One Family-One Future', will bring together senior officials, policymakers, scientists, and experts from G-20 member states, invited countries, and international organizations to discuss and identify R&D priorities in agriculture and strengthen cooperation for sustainable agriculture and food systems transformation.

This year's ACS meeting theme is 'Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems for Healthy People and Planet.' During the meeting, participants will discuss important areas such as the role of scientific innovations in sustainable agriculture and food systems for food security and nutrition, promoting millets and ancient food grains, resilient and nature-positive agriculture, digital agriculture, and public-private partnerships in agricultural R&D.

In addition to these discussions, the program includes an excursion for delegates to Sarnath, Ganga aarti, and trade facilitation.

The meeting will be chaired by the Secretary of DARE & DG, ICAR, with active involvement and support from the state government and district administration. The PIB has released the agenda of the ACS meeting, which is expected to be attended by experts from around the world.
