Kerala Govt will begin paddy procurement from October

The government will begin procurement of paddy from October 1, said Minister for Agriculture, V S Sunilkumar. He was attending the paddy procurement session held in Palakkad and Thrissur districts. The minister said that the price will be credited to the farmers’ account within three days.

The government will begin procurement of paddy from October 1, said Minister for Agriculture, V S Sunilkumar. He was attending the paddy procurement session held in Palakkad and Thrissur districts. The minister said that the price will be credited to the farmers’ account within three days.

On the occasion, the minister said that the government will also adopt the procurement centres of private mills and it will be utilized for a fixed term. Government-owned organizations including warehousing corporation, co-operative banks, government and private owned buildings will also be undertaken for procurement.

The minister also said that the government will utilize the facilities of Coimbatore for the paddy procurement in Palakkad if needed. The government-owned rice mill at Alathoor will reopen and start its function in this season, he added.
