Know Various Concessions by Indian Railways to Students on Ticket Prices of Trains

Indian Railways has been providing several kinds of facilities and concessions to train passengers. One such facility offered by Indian Railways is concession in ticket pricing of trains. Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation is offering various kinds of concessions to students on ticket prices of trains.

Indian Railways has been providing several kinds of facilities and concessions to train passengers. One such facility offered by Indian Railways is concession in ticket pricing of trains. Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation is offering various kinds of concessions to students on ticket prices of trains.

Concessions by Indian Railways to students on ticket prices

  1. Going to home city or home town

  2. Educational travel

  3. Competitive examinations related visit

  4. MST (Monthly Season Ticket) - Valid for AC and sleeper class travel

  5. Students visiting for the above purposes can ask the Indian Railways for concession offered to them on train ticket prices.

It is to be noted that, currently, it has been reported that East Coast Railway (ECoR) carried 45.80 million tonne (mt) of freight, which includes 27.06 mt of coal in its jurisdiction, by utilising 12,680 trains during the covid-19 lockdown period. An ECoR stated from March 22 - June 30 (i.e. for 101 days), ECoR has carried 27.06 mt of coal in 7100 trains from its jurisdiction. Out of which, 16.14 mt of indigenous coal from Talcher area in 4157 trains and 10.92 mt of imported coal from different ports under ECoR jurisdiction were transported to different powerhouses & industries across the country.

In the same period, ECoR has carried 0.95 mt of food grains, especially rice to various states like Tamil nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Bihar, Jharkhand etc. by utilising 333 number of trains. Besides from this, 1.20 mt of fertilizer to states such as Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal in 470 trains and 279 trains of petroleum products were transported from ECoR jurisdiction towards various places, said the statement.
