Krishi Vigyan Kendra Organizes One Day Workshop on ‘Entrepreneurship in Agriculture and Livestock Farming’

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Tarn Taran organised one day Workshop on ‘Entrepreneurship in Agriculture and Livestock Farming’. Deputy Commissioner, Tarn Taran Er. DPS Kharbanda was the Chief guest of the programme. Dr HK Verma, Director, Extension Education, GADVASU, Ludhiana, Director, University Seed Farm, PAU, Deputy Directors from different KVKs, scientists from PAU and GADVASU and District officials attended the workshop. Dr Balwinder Kumar, Deputy Director (Training) informed that more than 250 progressive farmers from Tarn Taran and other districts of the Punjab participated in the programme. The workshop mainly focused on value addition, processing and marketing of agriculture and livestock produce. Deliberations were made through technical sessions, presentations and interaction by the scientists.experts and progressive farmers and farm women. Dr Kumar suggested farmers to develop self entrepreneurship through the adoption of subsidiary business such as dairy farming, piggery, poultry, fishery, goatery, mushroom cultivation, beekeeping and value addition of agricultural and dairy products. A resource person from PAU Dr Ramandeep Singh, Professor, Agribusiness, stressed on marketing aspect and told farmers about concept of roadside display.

 Dr HK Verma, highlighted that university is working for the welfare of the farmers, he also shared information about new technologies for the dairy farmers. He emphasized on adoption of enterprises like piggery, poultry, fishery, goatery in addition to dairy farming for gaining more income.The progressive farmers arrived from different district shared their success stories with the farmers of the KVK and boosted up farmers for self efforts to start any business under the guidance of the KVKs and university’s experts. The different Self Help Groups displayed their products like pickles, embroidered articles, chilly, cucumber and processed pig meat. University and KVK inputs such as mineral mixture, uromin lick, bypass fat, vermi compost, and literature for the farmers were displayed. The certificates were also distributed to trainees by Deputy Commissioner, Director Extension Education, GADVASU and other dignitaries. They also lauded the efforts of KVK, Tarn Taran for organizing one day workshop, sharing technical inputs and time to time guidance to the farmers related to all aspects of farming.
