KVK Bhavnagar was visited by the Union Minister of Road Transport, Highways & Shipping and Chemicals & Fertilizers

Farm planning is the first step to obtain maximum remuneration from farm. These are the suggestions made by the Hon’ble Union Minister (State) Shree Mansukhbhai Mandaviya, Ministry of Road Transport, Highways & Shipping and Chemicals & Fertilizers, Government of India Reviewed the KVK-Bhavnagar on 24th May 2018 and visited different demonstration units and infrastructure facilities at KVK, Bhavnagar (Gujarat).

Farm planning is the first step to obtain maximum remuneration from farm. These are the suggestions made by the  Hon’ble Union Minister (State) Shree Mansukhbhai Mandaviya, Ministry of Road Transport, Highways & Shipping and Chemicals & Fertilizers, Government of India Reviewed the KVK-Bhavnagar on 24th May 2018 and  visited different demonstration units and infrastructure facilities at KVK, Bhavnagar (Gujarat).

He appreciated the work done by the KVK especially for capacity development of the farmers, farm women and rural youth. The Minister interacted with the farmers/farm women about their innovative practices. Senior level officials of line departments took active part in discussion about activities carried over in convergence mode. He reviewed the work done by KVK during last 3 years with their salient accomplishments.

Important suggestions made by the Minister are: Farmers, scientists and extension workers have to work in convergence mode with smart planning in the present scenario to increase the farmers’ income. Farm planning is the first step to obtain maximum remuneration from farm.

Efforts should be made to make optimum use of natural resources like solar energy, organic farm waste and convert them into a remunerative input.

 Use of biogas can provide a solution to animal waste management as well as provides an opportunity to obtain useful organic fertilizer for farming and fuel for domestic use.

 Farm innovations and best agricultural practices adopted by farmers should be promoted by arranging exposure visits of farmers’ groups to the farms of progressive farmers, which will be useful extension method.

The high value crop growers should be oriented about export facilities created in the district as well as in the state to enable them to link the export market.

The SHGs should be linked to the market channel to sustain their cottage industry production. Possibilities of contract farming in the district for selected crops should be explored in order to obtain better market prices of quality produce.
