Officials told media that the payment was delayed as many farmers did not complete the e-KYC

PM Kisan latest update: While talking to media, farmers in Punjab told that the delay in payment is because the state government was not able to meet the required conditions laid down by the Central Government.

Punjab Agriculture Department said that there are over 17 lakh farmers eligible for PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana in the state, of which only 2.5 lakh farmers were able to take benefit of the 12th instalment.

However, officials told media that the delay was because the farmers did not complete the e-KYC by linking their Aadhaar cards with the bank accounts in which the fund is to be transferred.

In addition, land integration that will help in knowing the land ownership of every farmer by just filling his/her details in the application software, is still in progress in Punjab.

A senior officer in the Punjab Agriculture Department said that till date, only 2.5 lakh farmers got the last instalment of PM Kisan, which was due in December out of 17.6 lakh eligible farmers in the state.

Director of Punjab Agriculture Department, Dr Gurvinder Singh said that they had made an appeal to all the farmers to upload the e-KYC data which is compulsory for the financial transactions through advertisements in all vernacular dailies. He also told that their employees are all prepared to assist farmers in updating their details.

Dr. Singh said the land integration work is also underway in Punjab and it will be done in the next two weeks.

The officials also claimed that there was no delay on their part in clearing as well as uploading the details of farmers on the website.

On the other hand, Jagmohan Singh, Bharti Kisan Union (BKU) Dakaunda General Secretary alleged that the Centre is anti-Punjab hence it has not released the 12th instalment of PM Kisan to lakhs of farmers.

Also, many farmers said that they have completed the e-KYC but as the agriculture department is yet to integrate the land record against their details, they were not able to receive the money.

It is important to mention that PM Kisan Yojana provides benefit to all farmers irrespective of their landholding size. Under this scheme, the farmers are given Rs 6,000 per year directly into their bank accounts. The amount is transferred in three instalments of Rs 2,000 each.
