Latest News: Now You Can Update Your Mobile Number in Aadhar Card at Doorstep; Know How

The Centre has announced that the resident Aadhar card holders can get their mobile number updated at the ease of their doorstep. The Ministry of Communications said, “Now a resident Aadhar holder can get his mobile number updated in the Aadhar by a postman at his/her doorstep. IPPB Online launched a service for updating the mobile number in Aadhar as a Registrar for UIDAI”.
Linking or updating the contact number with Aadhar card has now become even more easier, especially for the people living in remote areas. People can now update their mobile numbers on Aadhar card at their doorstep with the help of postman.
The service will be available in 650 branches of India Post Payments Bank & 146,000 Postman and Gramin Dak Sevak have been enabled to provide the wide range of banking services equipped with the smartphones & biometric devices. As of now, IPPB is only providing the mobile update service & it will enable the child enrollment service through its network.
The chief executive officer of UIDAI, Dr Saurabh Garg, said that the provision will immensely help the residents once their mobile number I updated in their Aadhar, they can also avail number of the authority’s online update facilities & several government welfare schemes.
J Venkatramu, MD & CEO of IPPB said that “The mobile number update service of UIDAI through the ubiquitous & accessible network of the post offices, postman & Gramin Dak Sevak will help in actualizing the IPPB’s vision of serving the underserved & unbanked areas and bridging the digital divide.
