Light to Heavy Rainfall Likely in Maharashtra, Goa and Southern States; Alert Issued for Northern Region

Fairly widespread to heavy widespread rainfall is likely over Maharashtra, Goa, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana during next 24 hours and heavy rainfall in the northern region including Bengal during the next 4 days, says IMD(Indian Meteorological Department) reports that was released early this morning.

Fairly widespread to heavy widespread rainfall is likely over Maharashtra, Goa, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana during next 24 hours and heavy rainfall in the northern region including Bengal during the next 4 days, says IMD(Indian Meteorological Department) reports that was released early this morning. 

“The cyclonic circulation lay over interior parts of south peninsular India and a trough in easterlies runs from this cyclonic circulation to Jharkhand across Telangana, south Chhattisgarh, and interior Odisha. Moisture incursion and strong convergence in the easterly wind regime is likely to cause fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy falls over Bihar, East Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal during next 4 days. Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy falls are also likely over Maharashtra, Goa, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana during next 24 hours”, said the weather department of India in its today’s bulletin. 

As per reports, heavy rainfall observed at isolated places over West Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh yesterday. 

On the other hand, thunderstorm witnessed at isolated places over Punjab, West Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat State, Konkan and Goa, Rayalaseema, Marathawada, Bihar, Madhya Maharashtra and Vidarbha and thunderstorm along with heavy rainfall observed  in Gujarat, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, West Bengal , Kerala and northeastern states including Sikkim, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. 

Maximum temperatures were recorded above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at many places over Jammu Kashmir; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at many places over Himachal Pradesh; at isolated places over Saurashtra & Kutch and Andaman & Nicobar Islands; 

Minimum temperatures were markedly above normal (5.1°C or more) at many places over Jammu & Kashmir; appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at many places over Himachal Pradesh and Punjab; at isolated places over Rajasthan.
