Lockdown Again In India? These States Might Have to Get Ready but Not All

India is slowly unlocking after more than 2 months of complete lockdown due to Coronavirus. However, the speeding rise in numbers of COVID-19 positive cases is being associated with easing restrictions on a massive scale in ‘Unlock-1’. Amid the slow unlocking of India, a screenshot is being widely shared on social media claiming hinting towards implementation of complete lockdown again.

India is slowly unlocking after more than 2 months of complete lockdown due to Coronavirus. However, the speeding rise in numbers of COVID-19 positive cases is being associated with easing restrictions on a massive scale in ‘Unlock-1’. Amid the slow unlocking of India, a screenshot is being widely shared on social media claiming hinting towards implementation of complete lockdown again. The screenshot also claimed that rail and air travel will also be stopped.

PIB fact check, which counters misinformation on government policies and schemes claimed that the news of complete lockdown all over India is not genuine.

However, there are two states in India that have maximum number of COVID-19 cases, i.e. Delhi & Maharashtra. There is a possibility that these two states might go under complete lockdown again. There are more than 97000 cases of Corona in Maharashtra & Delhi has more than 34000 cases in Delhi.

Hints of Complete Lockdown Again in Maharashtra & Delhi

The numbers of COVID-19 patients are constantly increasing in Delhi & Maharashtra and with ease of Unlock-1, the numbers will go further up in the coming months.

Uddhav Thackeray, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, has already hinted towards the complete lockdown again after large crowds broke social distancing rules in various places like Marine Drive. He said that the danger of Coronavirus is still with us and if people will continue to violate social distancing rules, then Maharashtra Govt. might repeat the lockdown again.

In Delhi, the situation is not so different. Manish Sisodia, Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi already predicted that there is a possibility of more than 5.5 lakh cases of Coronavirus in Delhi by the end of July. A committee in Delhi has proposed to convert ‘Pragati Maidan’ and 3 other stadiums to Corona treating hospitals.

Furthermore, a ‘PIL’ in favor of complete lockdown has been submitted to the Delhi High Court. Let’s wait & see if the decision is in favor or not.
