Lockdown in Delhi Extended with more Strict Restrictions: Check What's Allowed & What's Not

Delhi Chief Minister has announced that lockdown in the national capital is being extended for another 7 days effective from 10 May till 17 May to curtail the spread of the novel Coronavirus in the state. Metro train services will be halted during the period.

In a press meet, Arvind Kejriwal said that although the count of fresh cases per day is coming down but any slackness would squander the gains achieved so far in the current wave of the pandemic.

The lockdown scheduled to end at 5 am on Monday will now be extended up to 17 May morning.

The chief minister also added that oxygen supply in Delhi has improved significantly in the last few days. Vaccination is also going on at a rapid pace although there is lack of adequate vaccine stock.

What's Allowed & What's Not: 

Here is a list of all that is allowed or not allowed during this time:

What will remain Open: 

• Government offices

• Banks and ATMs

• LPG, CNG and petrol pumps

• Patients, pregnant women and media professionals are allowed to travel

• Home delivery of essential foods and items

• Shops dealing with essential items such as milk, grocery and dairy products, medical stores etc.  

• Those who are dealing with essential goods and services will required an e-pass for the movement during the lockdown period.

What's not Allowed:

• Metro services

• Schools, colleges and other educational institutions

• Festival gatherings

• Private offices

• Gyms, malls, beauty salons and cinema halls

• Weekly markets and on- site construction

• Wedding ceremonies at public places like hotels and marriage halls are completely prohibited. The government has allowed court marriage or wedding ceremonies at home only with not more than 20 guests.

• Movement for wedding ceremonies will be allowed only for those people who will have the invitation cards. Further No DJ, no catering or other services will be permitted at the wedding.

The new order doesn’t tell anything about the movement of people going for COVID-19 testing or for vaccination. However, as per the existing guidelines those who are going for vaccination can travel by showing the related documents and a valid ID card.
