LPG Insurance: Customers Can Avail Accident Insurance of up to Rs. 30 Lakhs; This is How You Can Claim

Very few people are aware of the face that LPG companies have an accident insurance plan for its customers. Moreover, LPG customers of oil marketing companies like Indian Oil Corporation, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited can get accident insurance up to 30 lakh for free.

We often get to hear about LPG cylinder accident which claims people’s lives along with huge property loss. However, very few people are aware of the fact that LPG companies have an accident insurance plan for its customers. Moreover, LPG customers of oil marketing companies like Indian Oil Corporation, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited can get accident insurance up to Rs. 30 lakh for free.

At the same time, in the event of death due to LPG cylinder accident, the family of the deceased gets an accident cover of Rs 6 Lakh per person. Moreover, oil marketing companies has released a comprehensive insurance policy. In this policy, the affected people can get relief in the event of accidents related to LPG. All customers registered with these companies will get covered under this.

Insurance Cover uptoRs. 30 Lakhs for LPG Accidents

Insurance cover can be used in the event of injuries, death or damage to home property due to gas cylinder explosion. Oil marketing companies and dealers offer such an LPG gas insurance policy, which is similar to a group insurance cover. According to the website of Indian Oil, in case of death, an accident cover of Rs 6 lakh per person will be provided. For injuries incurred in the accident, the compensation for medical expenses is Rs. 30 lakhs, which is up to Rs. 2 lakhs per person. There is also immediate relief assistance up to Rs 25000 per person.

Statement of Claim Amount

Insurance provided with LPG cylinder is divided into two parts –

Section-1

Compensation liability for loss due to LPG cylinder accident under section 1 is Rs 50 lakh per incident and Rs 10 lakh per person. This compensation is payable in these cases-

The accident occurred at the customer's home registered with the gas agency.

Occurred in the premises of the registered dealer.

The accident occurred while being registered with a registered transport contractor while moving the cylinder from the petroleum company to the distributor here.

The cylinder is being taken by the employee or customer from the dealer to the customer's home.

During supply of LPG in community kitchen, reticulated systems, among other things like geysers, lighting, generator sets, irrigation pumps etc. by the insured.

While connecting and disconnecting cylinders to LPG installations at registered premises.

Section-2

Under this, personal accident cover is payable for the loss of life and property due to LPG cylinder at the customer's home. If the property / house of the customer is damaged in an accident, then an insurance claim of up to Rs 2 lakh is received per accident. In case of death in accident, compensation of Rs 6 lakh per person per accident is received. For injuries incurred in the accident, the compensation for medical expenses is Rs. 30 lakhs, which is up to Rs. 2 lakhs per person. There is also immediate relief assistance up to Rs 25000 per person.

Compensation for personal loss and property damage is payable for an accident in these cases-

The filled cylinder is being taken out of the bottling plant.

During transportation

The filled cylinder should be kept with the distributor.

Whether the cylinder is being taken from the distributor's home to the customer's home or the customer's full / empty cylinder is being taken to the distributor's place.

The filled cylinder should be kept at the customer's house.

The empty cylinder is being brought back to the bottling plant.

During supply of LPG in community kitchen, reticulated systems, among other things like geysers, lighting, generator sets, irrigation pumps etc. by the insured.

While connecting and disconnecting cylinders to LPG installations at registered premises.

During the use of LPG in educational institutions, research labs, government / municipal hospitals, mid-day meal scheme, social welfare institutions like orphanage, old age home etc.

During the use of LPG in Restaurants, Hotels, Private Hospitals, Clinics, Poultry Farms, Ceramic Industry, Cottage Industry, Glass Industry etc.

When a customer takes a 5 kg cylinder from the distributor.

How to Claim LPG Insurance?

All registered LPG customers are included in the insurance policy taken by these government oil marketing. In such a situation, a person should immediately give written information to the distributor in the event of such an accident. The distributor will then give this information to the oil company and the insurance company. Documents required for the claim upto 30 Lakh

In case of death of someone in LPG accident, one has to submit the original copy of the death certificate and post mortem report of the deceased to the petroleum company of LPG cylinder has to submit.

At the same time, in case of someone injured in the accident, an original copy of the medical bill, doctor's prescription i.e., prescription, drug purchase bill, discharge card and any other document related to hospitalization has to be submitted.

Whereas, in the event of damage to property / house in the accident, the insurance company sends a survey team to assess the damage. The insurance company decides the settlement of the claim in accordance with the provisions of the insurance policies.
