Maharashtra Govt's Rs 6000 Aid to Farmers Insufficient, says Telangana CM

Rao suggested at a rally in Loha tehsil in Nanded district, around 450 kilometres from Mumbai, that the Maharashtra government chose to provide this financial assistance to farmers only after he attended a rally in Nanded last month.

"I just visited here once, and in the Maharashtra budget, there was a provision to provide each farmer Rs 6,000 per year." Why hadn't it been done before? This assistance is akin to spraying water on a fire. We are not interested. We want farmers to be paid Rs 10,000 per acre to invest in agricultural enterprises," stated the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader.

He said that the Telangana government, led by him, improved farmers' conditions over time. Telangana was in disarray eighty-nine years ago.

"Farmers were killing themselves in increasing numbers. However, we altered the governance and reduced their burden. "If Telangana can develop, why can't Maharashtra, which has more resources?" he wondered.

Rao repeated the "Ab Ki Bar, Kisan Sarkar" campaign slogan, implying a change in the Central government in the 2024 elections. Former Maharashtra Lok Sabha MP Haribhau Rathod, ex-MLAs Shankar Dhondge and Harshvardhan Jadhav, and local political heavyweights joined the BRS at the rally on Sunday in the presence of KCR.

On February 5, KCR remarked in Nanded that the time has come for peasants to seize control of the country, holding the Congress and BJP "kasoorwar" (responsible) for the condition of farmers during the last 75 years.
