Marut Drones and PJTSAU Secure World's First Utility Patent for Direct Seeding Drone

Marut Drones, a pioneering drone manufacturer based in India, has achieved a significant milestone by securing the world's first utility patent for its innovative direct seeding drone. The patent, valid for 20 years starting from November 29, 2021, is proof of Marut's commitment to technological innovation in agriculture. Developed in collaboration with Prof. Jayashankar Telangana State Agriculture University (PJTSAU), the patented drone incorporates a cutting-edge multi-nozzle aerial seed dispensing device.

Approval of this patent marks a crucial moment for Marut Drones as it seeks to revolutionize rice cultivation practices. The direct seeding drone, validated through rigorous scientific testing by PJTSAU, promises to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of seed-sowing processes. With Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) released by PJTSAU, farmers can confidently utilize Marut's seeding drones to optimize rice production.

Multi-Utility Attachment 

Marut's direct seeding drone is not merely a standalone product but a versatile attachment that offers multiple functionalities. In addition to seed dispersion, the drone can also be utilized for pesticide application, thereby maximizing Return on Investment (ROI) for farmers. Aptly named AG365, this multi-functionality ensures year-round usability, providing farmers with a cost-effective and efficient solution for rice cultivation.

CEO and founder Prem Kumar Vislawath said  “Through our collaboration with PJTSAU, we seek to promote the widespread adoption of direct seeded rice (DSR) through drones, fostering a more economically viable and sustainable rice cultivation ecosystem,”. Marut Drones aims to seed 1 million hectares by 2030.

The adoption of Marut's direct seeding drone promises to address various challenges faced by rice farmers. By reducing water usage by an impressive 92%, the technology accelerates profitability timelines, making rice cultivation financially viable in adverse conditions such as delayed monsoons or water scarcity. Furthermore, the drone mitigates traditional obstacles such as nursery time and labor shortages, empowering farmers with enhanced operational efficiency.

Transforming Rice Farming Practices 

Through extensive trials conducted across multiple states, Marut Drones has demonstrated the transformative potential of its direct seeding technology. As India confronts a projected dip in rice production, Marut aims to seed 1 million hectares of land by 2030, boosting food security efforts. The company's comprehensive training programs, targeting various stakeholders in agriculture, will further promote the adoption of direct seeding technology.

By partnering with Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) and Women Self-Help Groups, the company aims to establish Community Health Centers (CHCs) and empower local communities. Through these initiatives, Marut Drones emerges as a frontrunner in leveraging technology for sustainable agricultural practices.
