Massive All India Joint Convention Unites Workers and Farmers in Delhi for a Common Cause
The All India Convention of Workers and Farmers united to oppose the BJP-RSS regime's policies, planning nationwide actions for workers’ and farmers' rights.
The All India Convention of Workers and Farmers took place on a Thursday at Talkatora Stadium in the national capital.
This event was jointly organized by the Joint Platform of Central Trade Unions/Federations and the Samyukta Kisan Morcha, drawing a crowd of 7,000 workers and farmers.
The primary objective of the convention was to strategize an extensive nationwide movement aimed at countering the BJP-RSS regime, which was criticized for its pro-corporate, anti-people, and communal stance.
The event witnessed a significant turnout of workers, farmers, and agricultural laborers representing diverse organizations from all states across the country, creating an atmosphere of determination and enthusiasm, as noted by the SKM.
During the convention, a unanimous decision was reached, resulting in the adoption of a comprehensive four-page Declaration. This Declaration encompassed an analysis of the prevailing economic, social, and political challenges in the nation.
Additionally, it included a Charter of Demands and a Nationwide Call to Action, serving as a rallying point for the participating individuals and groups.
The SKM extended a heartfelt appeal to workers and farmers nationwide, urging them to actively engage in the upcoming joint and coordinated activities.
One noteworthy plan was the observance of October 3 as a Black Day, commemorating the tragic Lakhimpur Kheri farmer massacre in 2021.
Furthermore, the SKM proposed the organization of a Mahapadav, a grand sit-in protest, in front of Raj Bhawan (Governor's residences) across state capitals from November 26 to 28.
The forthcoming months were outlined with resolute determination, with substantial protest actions scheduled for December 2023 and January 2024, signalling the ongoing commitment of the SKM to their cause.
The convention concluded with a strong and unwavering call to unite the farmers, workers, and marginalized masses of the nation against detrimental government policies. The overarching aim was to safeguard the rights and welfare of workers, farmers, and the general population.
