Ministry of Panchayati Raj Organises Yoga Utsav to Mark Countdown Programme to 8th International Day of Yoga

Yoga Utsav to Mark Countdown Programme to 8th International Day of Yoga

Ministry of Panchayati Raj joined the nation in celebrating the countdown to the eighth International Day of Yoga at the Ministry's premises yesterday. As part of the Yoga Utsav – Countdown Programme for International Day of Yoga, 2022 on the Theme: Yoga for Humanity, a Lecture-cum-Demonstration Session on the Importance of Yoga in Daily Life was organized.

All of the Ministry's officers and staff members participated enthusiastically in the Yoga Utsav. The weblink was shared with the State / UT Departments of Panchayati Raj and Panchayati Raj Institutions to facilitate virtual participation in the event and to sensitize the major stakeholders about the celebration of the International Day of Yoga on June 21, 2022.

Yoga Instructors from the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, Ministry of AYUSH, delivered a brief presentation on the Importance of Yoga in Daily Life.

Tanuj Yadav, the faculty member of Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, delivered a lecture on the Importance of Yoga in Daily Life, while Muruli M.R., Demonstrator, demonstrated various Yoga poses/postures/moves relating to Yoga Break (Y-Break), which is a protocol consisting of simple and useful Yoga practices devised to de-stress, refresh, and re-focus on work and helps to increase the productivity of individuals at workplaces.

Sunil Kumar, Secretary, Ministry of Panchayati Raj, presided over the countdown, which was moderated by Dr. Bijaya Kumar Behera, Economic Adviser, Ministry of Panchayati Raj.

Speaking on the occasion, Sunil Kumar, Secretary, Ministry of Panchayati Raj, encouraged all participants to incorporate Yoga into their daily routines for physical and mental well-being.

He emphasized that Yoga–Break can be extremely beneficial to government officers and staff members.

He suggested that everyone should strive to practise Yoga on a regular basis because it will help improve everyone's health and keep the body and mind clear and focused in daily life. Dr. B. K. Behera encouraged all employees to practise Yoga for a healthier and balanced lifestyle.
