In a significant step towards financial inclusion and empowerment of women in rural areas, Charanjit Singh, the Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Rural Development, chaired a crucial meeting in New Delhi yesterday. The meeting brought together the Chairpersons of Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) and Managing Directors of State Co-operative Banks to deliberate on the progress and future strategies for Self Help Group (SHG) Bank Linkage. The Chairman of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) highlighted the potential of financing micro-enterprises owned by SHG women members. The vision is to turn these women into ‘Lakhpati Didis’ by providing financial support through RRBs and co-operative banks.
