MoS Fisheries Biplab Roy Chowdhury Attends KJ Chaupal, Appreciates MFOI, Green Office Building
Biplab Roy Chowdhury, Minister of State for Fisheries of West Bengal, visited the head office of Krishi Jagran and attended KJ Chaupal on Sunday, October 1.
Seeing a green workplace, he got energetic and appreciated the efforts of the Founder and CEO of Krishi Jagran MC Dominic for turning the workplace green. He was also touched by the idea of the Millionaire Farmer of India Awards, MFOI, an initiative that recognizes the hard work of Indian farmers, who are making millions but are looked down upon due to the stigma revolving around their profession.
As Mr Chowdhury entered the premises of Krishi Jagran, he got excited to see a sight full of plants. In fact, he asked, "How many varieties of plants are kept in the office?" Mr MC Dominic informed that "There are at least 64 varieties of plants kept inside the office." Mr Chowdhury also requested Mr Dominic to name each and every plant.
"I congratulate all of you that you have planted so many trees inside the office premises and it is a very good effort," he said.
He further explained the relevance of the tulsi plant which is also an indoor plant. "Tulsi is very important for health and is also used in puja. It generates more oxygen than other plants," Mr Chowdhury said.
Repercussions of Global Warming and Climate Change
During the discussion at KJ Chuapal, Mr Chowdhury mentioned, "These days it is difficult to sleep without AC because of the high temperature due to less number of tress. While the population across the globe is rising rapidly, the number of trees cannot match up with this pace. And, hence, global warming is affecting us."
Minister of Fisheries, West Bengal, Biplab Roy
It is quite ironic that Mr Biplab Roy Chowdhury is himself the minister of fisheries, however, he does not eat fish. "I have been a vegetarian for the past 30 years," he said. Moreover, he said that he can identify the quality of crops and fish easily. He said farmers need to know the correct methods of farming and apply those.
The Chaupal concluded with a group photograph where Mr Chowdhury showcased the May edition of Bengali Krishi Jagran magazine.
