MoSPI Organizes Hands-on Training Workshop on e-SAKSHI Portal for MPLAD Scheme

The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) is conducting a two-day Hands-on Training Workshop on the e-SAKSHI Portal for the revised fund flow procedure under the Members of Parliament Local Area Development (MPLAD) Scheme. The event, held on June 20 and 21, 2024, in New Delhi, is attended by representatives from all States/Union Territories (UTs) and district officials.

Under the MPLAD Scheme, each Member of Parliament (MP) is allocated Rs. 5 crore annually to recommend development works aimed at creating durable community assets based on local needs. The scheme, with an annual outlay of approximately Rs. 4000 crore, funds projects sanctioned by District Authorities for implementation.

The e-SAKSHI portal, launched on April 1, 2023, provides an end-to-end solution for transparent and efficient implementation of the MPLAD scheme. It replaces the earlier manual process with a digital platform that allows MPs to recommend, view, and review projects digitally, using a click and OTP-based verification system. The system also enables mobile app-based recommendations, empowering MPs to recommend projects on the go.

Secretary of MoSPI, Dr. Saurabh Garg, stressed the pivotal role of State/UT Governments in the successful execution of the MPLAD Scheme, emphasizing that the portal should be leveraged for effective implementation, monitoring, and impact analysis to ensure direct benefits to citizens. The workshop aims to train around 150 Master Trainers from States/UTs on effectively utilizing the e-SAKSHI Portal.

These trainers will subsequently educate district officials and over 15,000 Implementing Agencies across 785 districts, ensuring nationwide implementation of the scheme with enhanced transparency and accountability.
