NAFED Opens First Grocery Store in Gurugram
National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd (NAFED), the central government agency engaged in procurement, distribution, processing, export & import of various agricultural commodities in collaboration with Tirupati Cooperative have opened its very first grocery store named NAFED Bazar in Gurugram, Haryana.

NAFED Bazar store was inaugurated by the Chairman of NAFED Dr. Bijender Singh along with the chairman of Krishak Bharti Limited KRIBHCO Dr. Chander Pal Singh and the Sikkim Government, Mrinalini Shrivastava was also present on the occasion.
While inaugurating the store NAFED Bazar, the Chairman of NAFED Dr. Bijender Singh said, NAFED has more than 20 grocery stores, and NAFED Bazar is the store which is in collaboration with Tirupati Cooperative in Gurugram. NAFED is planning to open 200 more stores under the franchise model and similar name NAFED Bazar by the end of financial year in different parts of the country. The main objective of this store is to increase the farmers income and get their produce directly to retail.
It was planned to set up a retail grocery outlets under franchise model. Currently it operates the 10 retail outlets under the name of NAFED Bazar. 8 stores are in Delhi and 2 others is in Shimla, all of them are owned by the company. NAFED is into the institutional sales of grocery products to hospitals, government department and hotels.
The Chairman of NAFED Dr. Bijender Singh said, NAFED was Initially wants to focus on Delhi and its adjoining towns, where it has already developed the supply chain & later on move to the left out cities and also it is eventually aiming to expand it across the country.
Shilpi Arora, president of Tirupati Cooperative, said NAFED Bazar in Gurugram, is an initiative of women cooperative society in Uttarakhand. It’s a pilot store of NAFED with Tirupati cooperative & it will be opening 9 other stores also in other parts of the country, they will be focusing on most of the staffs should be women or disabled (differently-able) people. The store will sell rice, organic food items, pulses, health foods, spices, pickles, tea varieties and other grocery brands from various parts of country.
She added that NAFED Bazar store has launched many inaugural discount schemes including a 3% discount for all serving armed & police force personnel and they will be giving one fabric bag and a kg of sugar free for the first 100 women on their purchase of Rs 1000 and all the other customers will get one kg sugar free on purchase of Rs 1000 till 31st July 2021.
