Nagaland Govt to Take up Projects to Generate 10,000 Jobs and Promote Farmers' Incomes
Nagaland government targets to create around 25,000 jobs in the state by next year as part of the 100-day programme.
To provide financial assistance to disadvantaged traders and farmers in the distant northeastern state of Nagaland, the state government plans to take up projects that could generate 10,000 jobs there this year.
The Micro Small and Medium Enterprise Promotion Council of India (MSME PCI) is likely to introduce Retail Trading Guarantee Scheme (RTGS) and Kisan Trading Guarantee Scheme (KTGS) in the next two months. The purpose of these programmes is to provide financial aid to local farmers, according to the Council's Chairman Pradeep Mishra Sarkar.
The MSME PCI will directly provide the Minimum Support Price (MSP) rate to farmers for their products through KTGS, while RTGS -to be launched in Nagaland on September 15 -will take care of developing the business of the local traders and increase their income.
Sarkar saw a bright future for the project, especially in job creation. The target is to create around 25,000 jobs in the state by next year as part of the 100-day programme, he added.
