Narender Singh Tomar Inaugurates ‘AgriUnifest’ in Bengaluru
Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Narendra Singh Tomar stated that India is a massive democracy with population characteristics, and that 60 percent of our population is young. Together, these two forces are so powerful that India can not only meet any challenge, but also triumph over it if we complement each other.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has renamed the next 25 years from Amrit Mahotsav to AmritKaal, and if it is properly utilized, as well as the energy of our country's young population, we will undoubtedly be able to see our country as a developed India by the year 2047.
Union Minister Tomar made the remarks during the 5-day "AgriUnifest" cultural programme organised by Bangalore Agricultural University in collaboration with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). More than 2500 talented students from 60 State Agricultural Universities/Deemed Universities/Central Universities competed in 18 events across five disciplines (Music, Dance, Literature, Theatre, Fine Arts). ICAR conceptualized and launched the All India Inter Agricultural University Youth Festival in 1999-2000 with the goal of integrating Indian agriculture by connecting various Indian cultures, so that the talents of agricultural university youth can be nurtured and they can appreciate Indian cultural diversity.
The program's chief guest, Tomar, stated that the need of the hour is to make the most of every moment of our lives. Students can contribute more to the development of their families, societies, institutions, states, and countries when they develop holistically. Prime Minister Modi has always emphasised that every citizen of our country's thinking and vision should be holistic, and that they should work together to move their country forward on the path of development. Tomar stated that technology is extremely important in today's world. The use of technology in agriculture is also essential.
There is a great need for technology to bring transparency in all areas, and work that has been put off for years can now be completed in a matter of days. Prime Minister Modi emphasises the importance of technical support and the elimination of middlemen in all of our programmes.
The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, which has so far given Rs 2.40 lakh crore directly to crores of farmers in their bank accounts without any middlemen via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), is a direct example of this. Today, thanks to Prime Minister Modi's initiative, India is far ahead of the major developed countries in terms of cashless transactions, and this miracle has occurred in the last seven-eight years.
Tomar stated that while there are different languages, customs, and traditions in India, the soul of Indian culture is the same from Attock to Cuttack and from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. He stated that by holding events such as "AgriUnifest" in various locations, hidden talents in various fields emerge, and the country's cultural unity is introduced. Unity breeds unity, and when unity is strong, India's strength grows, and this strength must be maintained if we are to realize the vision of Ek Bharat-Shreshtha Bharat. Tomar stated that Prime Minister Modi has launched the "Khelo India" programme to encourage young talent. It is gaining popularity across the country.
With the encouragement of sports, the practise of any sport persists throughout the year, resulting in many gold medals for our sportsperson sons and daughters in prestigious national and international competitions. The country has achieved its mastery in every field, including education, health, agriculture, and administration, as a result of which India's prestige has increased throughout the world.
Shobha Karandlaje, Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Karnataka Agriculture Minister B.C. Patil, ICAR Deputy Director General (Education) Dr. R.C. Aggarwal, Vice Chancellor Dr. Suresha, and other officers, scientists, and students were present.
