Vani Jairam, a National Award-winning playback singer, passed away at the age of 78. She was recently announced to receive the Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian award in India.

Vani Jairam was a highly acclaimed and versatile playback singer who left an indelible mark on the Indian music industry. With a career spanning over five decades, she recorded more than 10,000 songs in multiple languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, Urdu, Marathi, Bengali, Bhojpuri, Tulu, and Oriya. Her rich and soulful voice captured the hearts of millions and earned her numerous awards and accolades.

She won the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer three times and received State awards from various states in India, including Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Gujarat, and Odisha. In recognition of her contribution to the music industry, she was recently announced to receive the Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian award in India.

Throughout her illustrious career, Vani Jairam collaborated with some of the biggest composers in the Indian music industry, including MS Viswanathan, Ilaiyaraaja, RD Burman, KV Mahadevan, OP Nayyar, and Madan Mohan, among others. She performed extensively in India and around the world, delivering evergreen chartbusters that will continue to be cherished for generations to come.

Vani Jairam's untimely death is a loss to the Indian music industry and her fans. She will always be remembered as a legendary singer whose music touched the hearts of people and will continue to do so for years to come.
