Dengue Day is celebrated every year on May 16 by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to help empower and educate the masses about this infection that can be life-threatening if contracted. The occasion serves as a reminder about the ongoing battle against dengue fever and the importance of prevention and control measures.

Common Symptoms of Dengue:

It includes joint or muscle pain, nausea, swollen glands, vomiting, and rashes. Most people recover within seven days, but in some cases, symptoms worsen. Dengue is caused by four types of the virus transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito, with symptoms appearing within three to fourteen days after a bite.

Significance of Dengue Day:

Dengue fever is a widespread mosquito-borne viral infection that affects millions of people around the world each year. Characterized by symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, joint and muscle pain, and rash, dengue fever can lead to serious complications and even death if left untreated. This day marks an impact by raising awareness and preventive measures to curb the risks of this infection.

United Against Dengue:

The theme for the National Dengue Day 2024, “Dengue Prevention: Our Responsibility for a Safer Tomorrow” emphasizes the importance of collective action and collaboration in the fight against dengue fever for a better future. In a world increasingly interconnected by travel and trade, dengue knows no borders and poses a global health threat that requires a coordinated response from governments, healthcare professionals, researchers, and communities.
