National Overseas Scholarship: Study abroad for free! Apply before 31 March; Agriculture Labourers Also Eligible

The government of India is inviting applications from candidates for National Overseas Scholarship 2022-23 providing fully-funded Scholarships to the students to pursue higher education (Post graduation courses) by studying abroad. This is one of the best scholarship schemes in India to study abroad. 

The Central Sector Scheme of National Overseas Scholarship is to facilitate the low-income students belonging to the Scheduled Castes, Denotified Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes, Landless Agricultural Labourers and Traditional Artisans category to obtain higher education viz., Master degree or Ph.D. courses by studying abroad thereby improving their Economic and Social status.  

National Overseas Scholarship 2022-23: Eligibility 

Educational Qualification: 

The eligible Candidates must possess at least 60% marks or equivalent grades in the qualifying examination.  

In case of Ph. D courses, the qualifying exam would be Master’s Degree and for Master’s Degree courses, the qualifying examination would be Bachelor's Degree.

In case a student has completed Bachelor's of Engineering after completing Diploma (Lateral Entry to 2nd year), percentage of marks obtained in Bachelor's degree will be taken into account.

Income Ceiling: 

Total family income from all sources shall not exceed Rs. 8.00 lakh per annum in the preceding financial year as detailed in para 8 c of these guidelines. The income certificate should be issued by a Revenue Officer not below the rank of "Tehsildar". The students will submit the ITR/ITRs of the family members as well. 

Age Limit: 

Not more than 35 (Thirty-Five) years, as on the first day of April for selection year. 

National Scholarship Portal 2022-23: Application Deadline 

The NOS portal is open till 31-03-2022 (Mid-night) for submission of online application through the Portal. All the desired candidates are advised to go through the Scheme Guidelines of NOS (SC) 2022-23 before submission of application (Scheme guidelines are available on the portal) 

National Overseas Scholarship 2022-23: Financial Assistance 

For United States of America and other countries except UK: 

Annual maintenance allowance: 15400 US dollars 

Contingency allowance: 1500 US dollars 

Tuition Fees: Actual as Charged 

Visa Fees: Actual visa fees in Indian rupees 

Medical Insurance premium: Actual as charged 

Incidental Journey Allowance: 20 US dollars for each or its equivalent in Indian rupees 

Poll Tax: Actual as charged 

Air Passage: Air passage from India to the nearest place to the educational institution and back to India by economy class and shortest route in arrangement with the national carrier 

For United Kingdom: 

Annual maintenance allowance: 9900 British Pounds 

Contingency allowance: 1100 British Pounds 

Tuition Fees: Actual As charged 

Visa Fees: Actual visa fees in Indian rupees 

Medical Insurance premium: Actual as charged 

Incidental Journey Allowance: 20 US dollars for each or its equivalent in Indian rupees 

Poll Tax: Actual as charged 

Air Passage: Air passage from India to the nearest place to the educational institution and back to India by economy class and shortest route in arrangement with the national carrier
