Tourism is one of India's greatest income-generating businesses, and it plays an essential part in the country's economy. Rural regions are the main center for tourist attractions where the greenery and beauty of crops attract tourists to visit. 

Every year, a large number of foreign tourists visit India. Individuals from all over the world visit 'Incredible India' and spend months exploring its scenic beauty. On January 25, we celebrate National Tourism Day to preserve culture and promote tourism and National Voters day to encourage citizens to Vote. Every year, a new theme is assigned to the day. The significance of the day is that it raises knowledge regarding the importance of tourism and its economic implications.' 

What is the history behind the celebration of National Tourism Day? 

The government noted the significance of tourism traffic to India in 1958 and established a distinct tourism department. The department was established to preserve our national heritage and care for tourism places to maintain their beauty while keeping them more tourist-friendly.

India is one of the world's oldest civilizations and is rich in variety and culture. The country has a rich heritage and interesting places to visit, making it a popular tourist destination. The day is celebrated throughout the country to raise public awareness of the tourist sector's growth possibilities and the influence it has on India's economic development. 

How is National Tourism day is celebrated? 

Tourism Day will be celebrated under the auspices of the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' this year. The Mahotsav event is a 75-week-long big festival inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to commemorate the nation's 75th year of independence. 

Seminars, cultural activities, and other events will be organized by the Centre in collaboration with the Telangana government as part of National Tourism Day. While various states have arranged events to promote tourism in their areas, the main event is being held in Telangana's Pochampally village, by the central government. 

 

The Indian Tourism Pictorial Quiz was unveiled by the tourism ministry on Monday. The quiz's objective is to exhibit India's diverse tourism products, architecture, culture, and cuisine, as well as to test participants' understanding of the country's tourism opportunities. The tourism industry has been severely impacted by the coronavirus disease outbreak. According to the World Tourism Organization, tourist arrivals will not return to pre-pandemic levels until 2024.
