Farooq Abdullah, a sitting MP and the president of the National Conference (NC) advised party activists on Sunday to be willing to make sacrifices like farmers in order to reclaim the unique status of Jammu and Kashmir (Article 370) that the Centre had taken away.
On the 116th birthday of his father, NC founder Sheikh Abdullah, Dr Farooq told party workers at the tomb of his father.“All of you have to be steadfast. Centre repealed farm laws after the sacrifice of 700 farmers. We may also have to offer similar sacrifices to get back the rights that have been snatched from us by the Centre,” he said.
NC founder Sheikh Abdullah, that every NC worker and leader should keep in contact with the people in every town and area. Despite incessant rains, Omar Abdullah, the vice-president of the National Conference, and a huge number of party members and officials gathered at Hazratbal in Srinagar to pay their respects to the Sheikh.
Dr. Farooq responded to Union Home Minister Amit Shah's comment that J&K is experiencing peace and tourism after Article 370 was repealed, by saying that if tourism is going up in Kashmir, what does it mean? He said, "Is tourism everything?"He said that the police and government were forced to exhume the corpses of two people murdered in the Hyderpora incident following considerable protest from the relatives of those deceased.
Recently after the sudden reappeal of the farm laws by prime minister Modi on the occasion of Guruparab many other groups that were dissatisfied with the current ruling government have stood up like the trade unions who are demanding for a rollback of the labour codes and now Farooq Ahmed of the National Conference has also spoken up for the reinstatement of article 370.
Although the roll back of farm laws were something historical, they have started making people to protest just to make the Govt roll back more laws which is a cause of concern.
