During his address at Rajyasabha today, Shivraj Singh Chouhan emphasized the need for a holistic approach to enhance agricultural profits. Farmers will receive Kisan-IDs linked to State Land Records under the Digital Agriculture Mission to prevent fraud and theft. Chouhan also highlighted the importance of helping small farmers earn profits from limited land holdings, mentioning the development of a model farm to demonstrate profitable farming on just one hectare.

He discussed the benefits and drawbacks of fertilizer use, noting its role in boosting food reserves but also its negative impacts when used excessively. The decline in soil fertility and the loss of beneficial insects like earthworms necessitate a shift towards natural farming. Chouhan announced the launch of a natural farming mission, aiming to raise awareness among one crore farmers and implement natural farming on 7.5 lakh hectares initially, with support from scientists.

The focus on increasing agricultural exports was underscored by rising exports of rice, spices, peanuts, and sugar. Chouhan revealed plans to dedicate 109 new crop varieties to farmers and highlighted the need to integrate water, land, climate, forest, animals, and people for a sustainable agricultural future, a vision understood and supported by the BJP and the Narendra Modi government.

In the next five years, the government plans to create export-oriented horticulture clusters with an investment of Rs 18,000 crores and integrate 1,500 mandis to facilitate market access for farmers. The oilseed mission, amendments to the Pesticide Amendment Act, and initiatives to make 50,000 villages climate-friendly were also announced.
