Neeraj Chopra Clinches Gold at 2023 World Athletics Championships, Relay Team Takes 5th, Parul Chaudhary Sets New National Record

Neeraj Chopra made history by winning the gold medal in the men's javelin throw at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary. He became the first Indian athlete to achieve this milestone, adding to his previous Olympic success. Chopra's exceptional throw of 88.17 meters in the final secured his victory and established him as the inaugural Indian gold medalist in the World Athletics Championships.

Three Indian athletes made a notable achievement by securing top-eight positions in a World Championships event. Kishore Jena reached 84.77 meters and DP Manu threw 84.14 meters, earning fifth and sixth places, respectively. This marked the first time for three Indian participants to achieve such high rankings in the competition.

The men's 4x400m relay team comprising Muhammed Anas Yahiya, Amoj Jacob, Muhammed Ajmal Variyathodi, and Rajesh Ramesh secured fifth place. Parul Chaudhary set a national record of 9 minutes and 15.32 seconds and claimed the 12th position in the women's 3000-meter steeplechase final.
