Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) has announced a revision in the cut-off marks for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Masters of Dental Surgery (NEET MDS) 2024. The revised cut-offs, released on September 17, 2024, have seen a reduction of 21.692 percentile points across all categories, a move aimed at filling higher number of seats for the upcoming MDS counselling process.

New Cut-off Percentiles

  • General and Economically Weaker Section (EWS): The cut-off has been lowered to 28.308 percentile.

  • SC/ST/OBC (Including PWD of SC/ST/OBC): The revised cut-off stands at 18.308 percentile.

  • UR-PWD Category: The updated cut-off is now 23.308 percentile.

The decision to lower the cut-off marks comes as part of the government’s effort to ensure that more students can secure seats in specialised dental programs. According to the official notice, the reduction aligns with the Dental Council of India’s (DCI) MDS Regulations, 2017, and subsequent amendments in 2018.

Official Statement

The Ministry's notice reads, “The Ministry has decided to lower the qualifying cut-off percentile for NEET MDS 2024 by 21.96 percentile for each category including General, SC/ST/OBC, and UR PWD, in pursuance of DCI's MDS Regulations, 2017.”

Following this directive, the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBE) has been tasked with publishing revised results. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has also been urged to take prompt action based on the updated cut-offs.

The NEET MDS 2024 exam was conducted on March 18, 2024, with the initial results being declared on April 3, 2024. Candidates are encouraged to visit the official MCC website for updated information on the revised cut-off scores and the forthcoming counselling schedules.

With this move, more students will now have the opportunity to pursue advanced degrees in dentistry, helping address the need for more qualified professionals in the field. For the latest updates and details on the revised results, students are advised to check the official MCC website.
