New Year 2022: In the wake of a spike in COVID-19 cases in Goa, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced on Wednesday that parties & activities in the coastal state will only be permitted if guests have 100% vaccination certificates or coronavirus negative certifications.

The CM stated that for parties & restaurants, 100% vaccination or possession of a negative certificate is required; otherwise, persons will not be allowed to conduct gatherings. He noted that a detailed guidelines order to that effect would be released later on Wednesday.

Visitors Increased During Christmas & New Year Holidays

The CM has refused to impose a curfew or restrictions, claiming that his government does not want to stifle the tourism industry. COVID-19 instances have now surpassed the three-figure level. The number of visitors to the coastal state increased as a result of the Christmas and New Year holidays.

The state administration is keeping a close eye on the COVID-19 positive rate, and when the task group meets on January 3, tough decisions will be made. Hotels in the state are about 90% full ahead of the New Year's celebration, and the beaches are jam-packed with revelers.
